INLiSa holds technical meeting with the British Geological Survey in Nottingham

In a working session held in Nottingham, INLiSa met with the hydrogeological team of the British Geological Survey (BGS), a leading organization in applied geoscientific research. The objective was to exchange capabilities, identify areas of complementarity, and explore collaborations that directly support the sustainable development of lithium and the responsible management of salars in Chile.

The meeting included a review of BGS’s previous work on saline systems and INLiSa’s plans regarding hydrogeological modeling and reinjection processes. The discussion led to the evaluation of joint efforts focused on integrated and transparent hydrogeological models, promoting open tools that strengthen traceability and the credibility of decision-making.

As a result of the meeting, both parties agreed to begin developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will establish a general framework for collaboration. BGS’s participation as a technical advisor and its integration into potential future initiatives will be assessed progressively.

The meeting also explored the possibility of establishing tripartite dialogues with other international institutions, such as the Faraday Institution, considering potential sources of external funding for activities in Latin America.

It also reinforces the importance of collaborating with established institutions, learning from their experience, and adopting practices that have already proven effective, ensuring that such cooperation contributes both to lithium development and to the protection of salar ecosystems.

This meeting strengthens the commitment to advance with comparative evidence, international standards, and a development approach that combines technological competitiveness with ecosystem protection.
