Launch

On January 17, 2025, the official launch ceremony of the National Institute for Lithium and Salars (INLiSa) was held at the historic Melbourne Clark Pier in Antofagasta, marking a key milestone in the implementation of the National Lithium Strategy.

The event was led by the Minister of Science, Aisén Etcheverry, together with the Regional Governor, Ricardo Díaz, and included the participation of local authorities, academic representatives, territorial communities, and various actors from the innovation ecosystem.

The ceremony highlighted the Institute’s decentralized nature, its focus on sustainable development, and the active participation of communities in the knowledge and stewardship of the salars. During the event, INLiSa’s mission, its four strategic work areas—salars, technology, communities, and citizen science—and the commitment to fund its operations for at least ten years with CORFO resources were presented.

This public event symbolized the State’s commitment to promoting responsible lithium governance grounded in science, technology, and territorial justice.
